Tab Curtains - Easy To Use In Perfect Style
The windows frame beautiful sights, they also make a room brighter as they serve as the passage of light. Windows could mean as mere windows but they are not only like that. They could make better effects for your home or any room. Curtains could further enhance how windows look. What style of curtains would be the best for your home windows? Simple, Tab Curtains.
Curtains offer a chance to decorate our home or office with a bit of our own style and taste. When we decorate our special area with a curtain, we say a lot about our own personality and style. Often, there is more to be said about us with our curtains than any other accessory in our home. Each room can usually have a set of curtains - even if there is no window, a curtain is a great addition to any room. Everyone has a favorite type of curtain. I prefer tab curtains in most places in my home because I get the chance to make a perfectly wonderful curtain as I see fit for the room I choose.
You can purchase a good set of tab curtains at almost any retail chain. In addition, you can get these at any department store and specialty stores always carry a large variety for you to choose from. I am more than positive you have seen tab curtains, but you may not have been aware of what you were viewing. For instance, many hotels and motels have moved to tab curtains because they are easy to install and easy to clean. In addition, they are a great fashionable addition to any room.
A tab curtain is simple a curtain that looks like a square piece of material - and it is duly noted that the tab curtains are just that - with a row of evenly spaced loops running across the top that allow the rod to smoothly flow through. These make a great curtain and drape design. Nothing is easier to make, create, install, or purchase. In addition, all of these tab curtains are designed for the perfect combination of room dcor and window covering.
Nothing is as easy to make than a tab curtain. Usually, you can find these patterns free via the Internet. All you need is a good measure of length and height. Then you buy 2.5 times the width in material. Of course, this is just a basis but gives a great starting point. You can use just about any material that you have handy or that you find appropriate. I like using a thicker material, but the choice is completely yours.
Next, I like a good lining. I do not have to use anything fancy, but a lining is going to make my curtains more durable and more resistant to the effects of the outside weather. In addition, any curtain or drape that is lined will keep the inside protected from outside influences. For my lining I usually choose a matching fabric. However, I remember once I created a set of tab curtains for my mother and used a complimentary solid color to the floral design on the front. I did not realize it until weeks later that my mother had chosen the solid color and was pleased that I had been smart enough to create her reversible tab curtains. I must admit, I took the comment with pride even though it was purely accidental.
Next I cut the material as needed. The body of the tab curtains is relatively simplistic to sew.

Next comes the fun part of adding the loops. I suggest you take the width and divide it by 4 or 5 - whichever is going to come out without a remainder. I like making my tabs 2 inches wide and 6 inches long. Therefore, I cut each tab to be 3 inches long and 8 inches long. You can use matching material or a contrasting material for these tabs. Of course, I prefer using a matching color or a solid color.
Now that I have all my tabs cut out it is time to add them to the curtain. First, I like to get a hot iron and iron the individual tab into a 2-inch tab. I prefer to add something that will firm up the tab for the curtain. I find that anything will work - even cardboard. However, remember that this will be getting wet when you wash it and cardboard may not be the best bet for you and your need to clean. Once the tabs have all been ironed into place, I suggest you pin them onto the body of the curtain. Now you can finish sewing up the final seam. Make sure that each tab is exactly put into place or it may throw off the whole ensemble.
As is obvious, making tab curtains is a simplistic chore that can be done in an afternoon - for the most part. If you find that you need help, you can simply purchase some from any local store, or you can usually hire a tailor or seamstress to create these for you. I like making my own, but that is just me. Depending on your time schedule, purchasing them may be a lot easier. Searching via the Internet will give you a great understanding of tab curtains and the modern style. You can find just about anything you want with tab curtains when you search via the Internet.
