Installing bed canopy drapes can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. But what's for certain is that it's going to look fabulous!

Take your double length of fabric and rape it over three curtain poles then attach it to the ceiling. Take the fourth curtain pole and thread it the fabric's casing. This will weight the front edge of the drape.

If you are using a fabric that has a pattern you will need to align the two sides so that the pattern is properly displayed. Take your time because this can really look awful if you don't get it right.

What You'll Need: You are going to need two different fabrics the co-ordinate to each other whether it is pattern or color. You will need 4 curtain poles that are the width of your bed plus and additional 6 inches. You also need Velcro, string, a draw pin, and thread that matches your fabric.

Measuring For Your Canopy Bed Drapes: 1. Take the first curtain rod and place it at ceiling level at the foot of the bed. Take the second and place it 12 inches in from the head of the bed. Now the third needs to placed on the wall behind the head of the bed at about 24 inches above pillow height. Of course you can adjust the height to your personal preference. 2. Determine where you are going to fix the drape. A good place is just below the mattress. Take a piece of string and measure fabric length. Attach to the drawing pin that's placed on the mark that you previously made earlier. Drape the string over the pole until you get the effect you want. 3. Determine the width of your drape by measuring the width of your bed and adding 6 inches. If you are going to need more than one width and your fabric is patterned remember to allow the additional material needed to match properly.

Making The Drape:

1. Cut 2 pieces of fabric the length you need and remember to allow for your scene. If needed join with flat seam. 2. On a flat surface with the right side up and with the top of the pattern at the top place the underside of the fabric and outer fabric on the top wrong side up. 3. Pin then stitch starting at the top seam securing the end firmly. Stitch then turn right side up and press. Don't forget to form the casing and the 1 inch seam allowance at the bottom. 4. Stitch close to the Velcro and stitch both sides from the same direction so that it won't pucker. 5. Put the fourth pole into the casing and attach your finials. 6. Now attach the Velcro sticky side to the wall at the head of the bed where you previously marked. 7. Place the drape over the rods that have been put into position and secure the bottom end. 8. Adjust to desired effect.
